“Morning Has Broken” which is mostly credited to Cat Stevens has deeper roots. Cat Stevens might have recorded the most listened to version, but the original tune was a Christian hymn with words written by the English author, Eleanor Farjeon, in 1931, set to an even older Scottish Gaelic tune “Bunessan.”
Cat Stevens recorded his version in 1971 and Eleanor died in 1965, so she never knew how much her little poem blew up. In case you are wondering when you will finally get the credit for that clever poem or prose you wrote, probably six years after you die.
Hey, but the sun will come up tomorrow, right? If you are in the right time zone while reading this, go break a morning. If it has already passed, plan on breaking a morning tomorrow.
*Again, I apologize for the pun. It was entirely unnecessary.
