Hallelujah
Some days you just got to practice blowing into holes.
Everybody covers this song at some point and please forgive me, but I use this as a practice tune. My favorite version is Jeff Buckley. It’s that sigh at the beginning.
But before I got to playing, I walked over to my neighbor on the corner to see if he was ok. His garage door was open at 5:30am when I was walking my dog Zoey around the block. I think it was open all night because it was also open in the afternoon when we walked past his house. I didn’t think anything of it then because he’s always out in his garden. But this was strange.
Fortunately, he is ok, just a bit forgetful lately. He’s 84, so I’m gonna keep an extra lookout for him. I couldn’t play when my mind was racing to the worst.
Ok, let’s get to the musical part of this thing.
Here’s me sitting on my front porch doing my little warm-up tune for you. It’s not perfect. The reeds were little sticky. I think because of the cold weather, maybe it’s because I just didn’t pound it out and blow a few scales before I started playing.
That’ll learn me.
What do you do to warm up, whether that’s writing or drawing or playing music. Let me know. I’m curious.
Some goofy stuff at the end so don’t turn off the video before you get to the end … or do; you do you!

Beautiful. Not only are you a damn fine neighbor, but your connection with the harmonica warms me inside. I wish I had a connection with an instrument like that! And I’ll say you were “warmed up” pretty good at the very last bit of the video!
Combined with your reference to Jeff Buckley, the sheer sadness was only softened by your gentle words. Lovely
