Locked up
The lyrics to some of these songs we grew up with is a bit messed up
The best tunes for my little 100Harmonicas band are inspired by other substackers. This one comes from Anna Schott on one of her Notes where she posted an old Jimmie Rodgers tune, “He’s in the Jailhouse Now.” Go scroll back; it’s worth the read and not just for the tune.1
It also appeared in the film, “O Brother, Where Art Thou?” … 2000(?) this song sung by Tim Blake Nelson … I really think they dubbed in the yodel, though. ..
Anyway, this song has been stuck in my head for days and IYKYK, I gotta play out the tune to get it out of the noggin. I might make a post on the newsletter… we’ll see.
That key jump on the bridge and yodel is a weird brainf^ck but stick with me, I’ll get it. I now need to learn the banjo part.
What? You didn’t know banjo was an obligatory instrument for every harmonica player? (I’m actually pretty terrible at banjo, but I can do some basic rolls and chords. I think I can do this song.)
I just realized, I have no idea how old Anna’s son is… he could be 3 or 7, or 9 or 22. 😳

Don’t make me promises you can’t keep. Only kidding. But I do like a banjo.
So where’s the banjo part? You are multitalented that for sure.
