Woulda, coulda, shoulda
The music of Céline Deon
Poetry and music is a funny beast. It takes the common parlance, wraps it inside a bridge or verse, obscures it with a harmony, a chord, a punctuation mark, a phrasing and causes smilies, metaphors, even clichés to explode into emotions on several layers all at once.
That’s how I feel when I listen to and play Céline Deon’s “It’s All Coming Back to Me Now” I cringed when it became a TikTok viral meme with gold curtains, confetti and a leaf blower starring a wannabe influencer and engineered by an accommodating partner and the familial entourage.
This isn’t a cynical commentary on the trend, just an observation. Some of the videos I found highly creative and entertaining. In the end, though, the videos were hard to watch when the “reveal” moment of the videos became more about the climax than the heart-breaking, bitter-sweet journey through anguish in the verses.
I think many TikTokers missed the meaning on the way to their destination.
I suppose that is an everyday occurrence; the rush to the destination while ignoring all the experience and feeling of the journey, causing a hollow climax… well, I suppose we could stop there lest I unwittingly give NSFW advice to my younger self or inadvertently write a commencement address.

I cross post these videos on LinkedIn, because they insist on saying they are a business site and I insist on being incorrigible, ungovernable and ultimately unemployable because of it... basically, I’m a low-grade anarchist...

So their AI thingie generates captions for video and ... well, I'll leave you to this little bit of fun I had around their imaginary water cooler...
I lOVE when all this AI goes sideways, thinking it has the right context... it's about music, right? Oh, so CLEARLY he meant the '90s boy band, right??? 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Your daily reminder that all this computer crap, despite all the smart techbros saying otherwise, is all really rather dumb.... just a bunch of computers whirling its wheels, pretending to be as smart at the dumbest human being. We're too smart for all of it and even as they can cut down trees at a far faster and more efficient way, they will always be in the wrong forest.

Listening to this at night. I listened to Celine often in the day. You did a mighty fine job on the harmonica. You’re right only path is forward, but sometimes a look back to what coulda, shoulda, woulda is ok. I am not a fan of AI. Even my washing machine has it. It is everywhere. Another story for another time.
